UPDATE: October 7, 2011

As of October 7, 2011, more than 80 persons have died and scores more injured from the wrath of Typhoon Pedring and Typhoon Quiel, with millions of people struggling with flooding and other destruction. Residents of Tondo, Manila suffered a massive storm surge which destroyed their houses. Residents of Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, after suffering massive flooding last 2009 brought about by Ondoy, suffers another set of floods brought by Typhoon Pedring.

According to official numbers, Typhoon Pedring left 21 dead and thousands affected after it lashed out Luzon last September 27, 2011. In Metro Manila, a storm surge wiped out thousands of houses of people in Tondo and Navotas. Floods in Marikina and surrounding areas have rendered families homeless.

Strong rains and high tide submerged communities in Noveleta in Cavite. Communities in Bulacan, near the Manila Bay also suffered from flooding and storm surge. Millions of crops were destroyed by Pedring as it struck Isabela and Aurora, along with thousands of families uprooted and sent running to evacuation centers.
